To have been elected to serve as the President of Phoenix Golf Club for the next three years is a privilege that I am very humbled to accept and an honour that I will cherish for ever. I will with pride and enthusiasm do my best to follow in the footsteps of all those who have previously held this very prestigious position.

I am looking forward to working with the new Captains and the Committee contributing on your behalf to not only maintaining but improving a Club that we should all be very proud to be part of and to call our own.

The social side of the club is healthy and has over recent years experienced an upsurge in interest, thanks to the efforts, enthusiasm and support of the Committee, you the members and your friends. I hope this will continue into 2008 and beyond and that you all support your new 2008 Captains, Steve Pearce and Andy Law, not only on the course but also off the course to ensure that they have a memorable year.

The committee in conjunction with the Ground staff are doing their utmost to ensure that for your enjoyment the golf course is set up and presented for play in its best possible condition. In return this also requires your help by repairing pitch marks, replacing divots, raking bunkers, keeping trolleys and buggies well away from bunkers and greens, and avoiding slow play.

Finally I hope that 2008 brings you all good health, good luck and good golfing and that the weather allows you all to have a most enjoyable year.

Hello and welcome to the 2008 Golf Season.

It is a pleasure and great honour to be representing your Club as Captain. I will endeavour to continue to set the high standards reached by my predecessors.

It was a privilege in my Vice-Captaincy year to be chairman of the organizing committee for the 75th Anniversary Ball, an event that celebrated all that is good about our Golf Club and symbolized the unification of the Club – acknowledging the achievements and memories of our elder statesmen but being welcomed on reception by members of the Pre-Junior Section. This bodes well for future generations.

2007 was a difficult year for the Golf Committee, dealing with many issues and with weather conditions causing problems on the course. I can assure you that the Golf Committee works tirelessly on your behalf so please show support and patience at all times.

Finally, I look forward to seeing you all during the season – let’s hope we have good weather to match (hopefully!) our good golf.

Fellow Golfers

I am privileged to be your Lady Golf Captain for 2008. I have played sport at Phoenix Sports and Social Club since 1974, playing hockey and then moving on to golf, which I love…sometimes!

The Ladies A team and Mail on Sunday Team did exceptionally well in 2007 and I hope to be a part of their success in 2008. Dare I mention the Ladies versus Gents Trophy.. of course I can…may I say the wooden spoon stops there!

I would like to thank everyone for their kind regards, best wishes and offers of support. As Lady Captain, I hope that my enthusiasm and sense of fun helps me to make the year enjoyable for all Golf club members.
