Phoenix Golf Club Ladies Section.
Our Section was established in the early 1940’s and we welcome new members of all abilities to join our friendly group of ladies. We have around 60 playing members and hold regular weekly competitions on Thursdays. Additionally, there are mixed, domestic and open competitions held on Sundays and other midweek days during the golfing season.
There are special competitions in our golfing calendar – the Spring Meeting held in May and Lady Captain’s Day held in June. We also join the gentlemen in the Joint Captain’s Day and Lady members are invited to play in the Club Captain’s Day and Club President’s Day. These competitions give you an opportunity to win some great prizes.
The Ladies’ Section enter a team in the Yorkshire Ladies County Golf Association (YLCGA) interclub competitions and there is the opportunity to play in the Sheffield and District Ladies Golf Association (SDLGA) calendar of competitions. As a member of our Section you would be eligible to enter Ladies’ Open Competitions at various Golf Clubs in the surrounding areas as well as the friendly matches with our close neighbours, Sitwell Park and Rotherham Golf Club. National competitions, including Ping, Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday are also on our calendar.
Our Club Professional, Michael Roberts, is on hand to offer advice and coaching together with our own Coaching Professional, Julie Roberts. Julie offers excellent coaching for golfers of all abilities and her group sessions are popular with the ladies, whether beginners or improvers. For more information contact pro@phoenixgolfclub.co.uk
